I've just seen a film on Hokusai and I'm simply envious. :)
Not only he's invented manga (sort of) two hundred years ago. But he was a great pop-artists, as well.
In the film they tell the story about an artist competition in front of the shogun. Hokusai 's just painted a wide blue line and let a cock walk on it with legs painted red before. He called the artwork: Red Maple Leaves Floating on the Tatsuta River. Even if it's not happened at all, the story tells a lot about what others thought about Hokusai. :) Anyway, the story reminds me of Andy Warhol.
I hope in the next 90 years I'll be able to draw on him. :)
